The country national postal net is organized by Open Joint-
Stock Company "Uzbekiston Pochtasi" according to the
geographical principle. It includes 14 regional divisions, which
are structured in 189 country and city centres, 3017 post offices
(2327 rural) and,4 specialized branches - "Halkaro Pochtamt",
Halkaro Tezcorr Post", "Uzbekiston Markasi", Handling Track
and Trace Centre" and also 34 air routes, I railway route, 527
automobile routes, providing the regular conveyance of postal
items

At the post offices 6879 delivery sections are organized. Among, them 2466 - rin the cities and towns, and 4413 -in rural

area. On the served territory 7369 post boxes ^:are^!itvstailed for the
letter post collection, including 4542 in rural area.       '

The operating net is one of the most important values of the republic post. Mare than 14000 people are working at the post ventures, who handle thousands of letters, telegrams, money orders, parcels and deliver newspapers, magazines, pensions, allowances to millions of people every day. Many additional services are introduced - payment for utilities and telephone, property insurance, distribution of lotteries, E-mail service, Internet, etc.

The global changes, taking place in the state cause the necessity of changes in the communication field. Therefore, State joint - Stock Company was established in accordance with the decree "About the Activities of the Uzbekistan Agency of Post and Telecommunications", adopted by Uzbekistan Cabinet of Ministers dated 31.07.97.

[t was determined, that 75% of shares are kept as the state property, 10% of the shares are allotted¹ for sale to the employees, 15% of shares are allotted for free seiling out. Today this process is finished.

State Joint - Stock Company "Uzbekiston Pochtasi" was transformed to the Open Joint-Stock Company "Uzbekiston Pochtasi" according to the decree K° 339 "About the improvement of the Activities in the Postal Network Sphere" dated 19.07.04.

Open Joint-Stock Company's collective investment fund is formed out of its own property and the transformed joint-stock company's property with the following share holding divisions: the share, which is kept as the state property - 51% the share, which is allotted for free selling out - 49% 

During nine months 2004, the exchange of international postal items was made with 81 states, Russia, Ukraine, USA, Germany, Israel, Kazakhstan are the main partners according to the volume of the postal items exchange.Later on, the possibility of establishing legal, technological
and financial relations with interstate and international
organizations appeared in the postal service area.
