A provided table gives information about how many male and female students who lived in the UK obtained teacher training qualifications between 2005/06 and 2006/07.
As an overall trend it is clearly seen that during the whole period, the proportion of female students who received teacher qualifications was much higher by comparing with male students.
In 2005/06 , 23865 female and 8065 male students obtained ITT qualifications. By 2006/07, this figure increased slightly to 24335 for females and decreased to 7610 for males. In general, the number of females who obtained PGCE remained almost unchanged during the given period. However, males’ result declined by 495 at the same period. There was a minimal growth of 480 in the proportion of females who got Bed and other degrees, reaching 6920 in 2006/07 and this number for males was 1125, going up by only 40 over the same period.
Female numbers showed roughly 17500 in PGCE for the whole period. When it comes to males, the figure decreased to approximately 6500 in 2004/05 from 7000 in 2006/07.
